Spiritual Detox

New Year’s resolutions are not typically on my radar.

That said, I recently embarked on a doctor-led body detoxification of refined sugars, simple carbohydrates and inflammatory oils. Thinking my nutritional diet was pretty sound, it came as quite a shock when began reading labels for hidden ingredients.

Much to my surprise, I've met my culinary health challenge.

Perhaps we all need to detox something. Whether it's a bad habit or keeping negative people at bay, toxic elimination can have wonderful benefits. God encourages us every step of the way.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

- ROMANS 12:2

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

- JAMES 1:5

Here are helpful quotes from an article in MIRACLE RECOVERY:

Embarking on a spiritual detox in a Christian context involves overcoming withdrawal symptoms.

Reconnecting with God through prayer is essential during the detox process.

Relying on the support of a Christian community is crucial for navigating withdrawal symptoms.

Christian exercises, such as prayer and meditation, aid in cleansing the spirit.

Finding encouragement in passages from the Bible helps during the process.

With the right resources, support, and mindset, individuals can overcome withdrawal symptoms, renew their faith, and experience a profound spiritual transformation.

Withdrawal from my sugar cravings has been challenging, but I'm encouraged by the Word, prayer and my accountability partners. My hope and desire is to reduce inflammation in my body and move with greater ease, wherever God leads me.
