When Hope Seems Hopeless

Seven months ago, my life went into a tailspin. I received a call that no parent ever wants.

Losing my daughter in an accident led me down a difficult path with many questions, but no answers. Perhaps you, too, have encountered moments of “Why, God?” Even Jesus cried out on the Cross, “Why hast Thou forsaken me?” while dying for our sins in utter agony.

Dr. Jeff Schreve states that it's natural and normal to ask why. We just need to know that God doesn’t always answer our questions. He is not in the business of explaining, but rather sustaining us through life’s storms. We may never receive the answer this side of Heaven, but Pastor Schreve helps us cling to these truths:

God is good. God is love. God is perfect. God is in control.

God never makes a mistake. God cares for us.

He allows things to happen in life that don’t make sense to us…but they do make sense to Him.

In the midst of our trials, may we trust God and pray that He would use our situation to further His Kingdom. May we find opportunities to have spiritual conversations, to hold all things loosely while on this earth. Nothing really belongs to us, not even our own children. Everything belongs to God— Behold, all souls are Mine.  - EZEKIEL 18:4 We are simply managers of His stuff. May we manage well, trusting Him to do “all things well” and work all things together for good, to those who love God, to those called according to His purpose.” - ROMANS 8:28

During this Easter and Spring, may we each be hopeful, knowing Jesus died for us, and sent us His Holy Spirit so that we do not walk alone.
